(Just to clarify I have never been to prison, just describing it for an assignment)
The food was a conglomeration of things that look like someone had eaten it prior to them serving it and threw it back up. I didn't know what was in it, nor did I want to. most of the inmates didn't intermingle. There were tall, husky, broad shouldered men with arrow heart tattoos on their biceps, which were about the size of my head, with female names scrawled in cursive letters in the centers. Some of the men here looked like they just popped out of a television show or People magazine. Muscularly slender with jaws and cheekbones sharp enough you might cut yourself if you got close enough to touch them. Virtually no scars or blemishes on their bodies. The "pretty boys." Probably in for trespassing or something like that. I stayed in my cell for the most part. I was the only female in the jail aside from the guards and the ones who worked here. I didn't have a cellmate because of this and was in a section apart from the men. The officers and guards seemed to like me so they bought me books and gave them to me along with sweets so I would have something to do. I'm innocent and they all knew it. It smelled like blood and sweaty bodies. Last night's food still heavy in your stomach. The only reason I'm still alive are because of the guards and officers, they protect me. It was always nice when they stopped by with a small bar of candy or part of a decent sandwich. Or when they would stop and talk with me, but I still wanted to go home. I need to go home.
